HEBZ First Boutique Now Open…

Finally Fashion Designer Heba Al Awadi has opened her first Multi-Brand Accessories Boutique in town at The First Mall, Four Seasons Giza this month. It’ s a little vibrant boutique that you will come across at the second floor of the mall, but it’ll definitely get your attention for its fashionable and rather intriguing pieces. I just adore the collection there, It’s quiet hip and edgy,  some pieces are quiet vintage with a modern twist while others are just surreal.

So I did a little Interview with our fabulous designer asking her about her new Boutique and how she managed to pull such a collection together, this is what she had to say…

Let’s first start by asking you about the concept behind your boutique?
I’d say it’s a very simple one. There isn’t a single place in Cairo that provides a range of different styles of high quality, beautiful accessories that suits various price ranges. The HEBZ boutique provides something for everyone! We always get stuck for meaningful gifts, and at the boutique there is so much to choose from! We have a selection of jewelry, bags, sunglasses, t shirts, i pad covers, i phone covers, wallets, candles, watches, so we got you covered no matter what the occasion is!
What Labels can be found at the Boutique?
The brands at the moment are Hebz by Heba Elawadi among other Labels such as Tokyo Jane, Melinda Maria, Pascale Monvoisin, Azzuni, Banane, Ettika, Shashi, Amrita Singh, Thursday/Friday, Quincy Jones Foundation,  ForTheLoveOf, Casio, Rola, By Lisa, Tash, Dina Maghawry, Runi’s, Vintage by TS, T Shirt Policy, Janan Studio, Boho Candles, Solidarity Brand.
I’m constantly adding new designers and new collections to the boutique as it’s a very cosy, cute, small boutique.
All in all, how would you describe your collection .
The collections available at the boutique varies…. We have the statement pieces and we have the simple pieces. I personally like fun, loud, colourful, accessories so you get to see a lot of that at the boutique.
So how do you choose your pieces?
I choose the selection based on my personal likes most of the time. My sister Hana tells me that’s not how I should be working, but at the end of the day, I’d like to think I am helping others dress up. I think fashion is important, since it portrays your personality.I like to constantly change my style, and accessories is the key in change. You can be wearing the same outfit and change the way it looks by changing the accessories you wear it with. I also talk with the designers to get a feel of what their best sellers are out of interest mainly, but I do go ahead sometimes and try stuff out…
Since Valentine’s Day is coming up, any special plans for it ?
I am planning to spend the day and the day before at the boutique! I think it will be a touching experience helping others choose gifts for their loved ones. There are many great gift ideas at the boutique to show your loved ones your affection.
Are we going to be seeing more Boutiques opening soon?
I would love to open more boutiques, in good timing, and more importantly when I feel like I’m ready… it is definitely in my plan in the next couple of years. I’d like to have perhaps four across Cairo, and a few internationally.I’m using this time as a learning experience, since it is the first boutique of such a kind I opened. Maybe with different concept too, you never know…

Azza Fahmy’s Stunning Hajj Capsule Collection

Azza Fahmy who has established herself as one of the most iconic Jewelry designers of our time with her fascinating work and vision, has outdone her self once again with her latest Limited Edition The Hajj Capsule Collection. This collection is in support of the British Museum’s upcoming exhibition Hajj: Journey to the heart of Islam. The first exhibition dedicated entirely to the Hajj,  ” This exhibition will enable a global audience to deepen their understanding of the significance and history of the Hajj. In particular, it will allow non-Muslims to explore the one aspect of Islamic practice and faith which they are not able to witness, but which plays such a major part in forming a worldwide Islamic consciousness.
Neil MacGregor, Director, British Museum

I have to say this collection is not only unique for its outstanding designs but for the divine concept it represents. It consists of three specially designed jewellery pieces which entails breath-taking Islamic reflections inspired by the Islamic Haj rituals and sacraments, key and textiles of the Ka’ba, and “Well of Zamam.” The collection is both insightful and historically accurate with a signature of Azza Fahmy’s contemporary adaptation. When I first saw these pieces at her showroom, I was so overwhelmed with its deep spiritual value that I had to share them with you!

Gareth Pugh for M.A.C “Fashion Film”

Gareth Pugh, one of Britain’s most celebrated and avant-garde designers teamed up with M.A.C after years of collaboration together for the designer’s catwalk shows to create an exclusive new collection ” as stylistically daring as his reputation!”.

The range is, in true Pugh style, dark, edgy and beautifully gothic. The colour palette is a mix shades such as  dark purples, violet and grey,  covers everything from eyeshadows and lipsticks to nail polishes and accessories.

This fashion video is a collaboration between Pugh and fashion film director Ruth Hogben.
